Hawaii to a subsidiary of Harbert Management.

Harbert has long been an owner and operator of power plants, including in Hawaii. Since 1997, the company has held a stake

in the 208MW Kalaeloa Partners cogeneration facility on Oahu.

Harbert has a longstanding relationship with Hawaiian Electric Company and looks forward to further strengthening that

relationship with this acquisition,” said Claude Estes, Harbert’s senior managing director and head of infrastructure.

“We are excited to be a part of the State of Hawaii’s energy future and to serve the residents of Hawaii Island.”

The sale of the facility represents a significant step in the Pacific Current Strategic Alternatives Assessment previously communicated by HHI.

The evaluation process for other Pacific Current assets is still underway.

HEI Chief Executive Officer Scott Seu said, “We believe that Harbert’s extensive experience in owning and operating power plants

and being a good partner with the utilities within our state will serve the Hamakua Energy Plant and Hawaiian Electric Company

well in providing power to the people of the island of Hawaii and in supporting the the island’s transition to an increasingly

renewable energy future.

“This sale is another step in streamlining HEI’s strategy and regulatory position as we focus on our core utility business.”
