The world’s first 35 kV kilometer-level superconducting power transmission demonstration project achieves full-load operation

At 12:30 on August 18, with the operating current parameter reaching 2160.12 amperes, the world’s first 35 kV kilometer-level superconducting power

transmission demonstration project successfully achieved full-load operation, which further refreshed my country’s commercial superconducting power

transmission project. Records of actual operating capacity.

The world’s first 35 kV kilometer-level superconducting power transmission demonstration project is located in Xuhui District, Shanghai, with a total

length of 1.2 kilometers, connecting two substations. Completely independent intellectual property rights are realized in the core materials, technologies

and equipment of the entire project. Since it was officially put into operation in December 2021, it has been operating safely and stably for more than

600 days. It has supplied nearly 300 million kWh of electricity to 49,000 households in core areas such as Shanghai Xujiahui business district and

Shanghai Stadium, creating a kilometer-level superconducting cable in large cities. A precedent for the operation of the core area.

Superconducting power transmission is one of the most revolutionary cutting-edge technologies in the power industry today. The principle is that in

a liquid nitrogen environment at minus 196 degrees Celsius, using the superconducting properties of superconducting materials, the power transmission

medium is close to zero resistance, and the power transmission loss is close to zero, thereby realizing large-capacity power transmission at low voltage

levels. The transmission capacity of a superconducting cable is equivalent to four to six conventional cables of the same voltage level.
