Congratulations on the full operation of Nepal’s largest hydropower station constructed by PowerChina

On March 19, the largest hydropower station known as Nepal’s “Three Gorges Project”, the largest hydropower station built by POWERCHINA,

was fully put into operation. Nepalese Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deupa attended the commissioning ceremony and gave We would like to

express our gratitude to the institutions and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the construction of the project. Hundreds

of people, including Nepalese Minister of Energy Bamba Busar, senior government officials at all levels, members of parliament, military

representatives, management at all levels of the Nepal Electricity Authority, and representatives of all participating units in the project, attended

the ceremony at the site of the hydropower station.

At the ceremony, Nepalese Prime Minister Deuba said that the smooth commissioning of the Upper Tamakshi Hydropower Station will help

Nepal reduce electricity imports and promote the country’s industrialization and agricultural modernization. I would like to thank PowerChina

for its contribution to the development of hydropower in Nepal and the improvement of local people’s livelihood. We welcome outstanding

Chinese companies like PowerChina to continue to deeply participate in the investment and construction of energy and transportation in Nepal.

Nepal’s Minister of Energy Busar emphasized that Nepal is currently vigorously developing clean energy. Nepal’s Shangta Maksi Hydropower

Station, which was built by China Power Construction, has officially entered commercial power generation, which will effectively make up for

Nepal’s power gap and promote the adjustment of Nepal’s energy structure. It is of great significance to promote the rapid socio-economic

development of Nepal.

The total installed capacity of Shangtamaxi Hydropower Station is 456 megawatts, and 6 hydro-generator units are designed to be installed.

It mainly passes through an 8-kilometer water diversion tunnel and uses a drop of 822 meters to generate electricity. The maximum effective

storage capacity is 2.2 million cubic meters, and the maximum water storage height is 17 meters. POWERCHINA 11th Bureau of Hydropower

mainly undertakes the construction of civil engineering 1 standard dam head, sand settling tank, diversion tunnel, pressure shaft, surge well

and other projects.

The Shangtamaxi Hydropower Station is a concrete manifestation of the deepening cooperation and friendly development between China

and Nepal, and it is also an important witness to the joint promotion of the “Belt and Road” initiative between the two countries. Its full

production has not only greatly alleviated the power shortage problem in Nepal and played an important role in the pillar industries, but also

laid a solid foundation for POWERCHINA to deepen the Nepalese market and established a good reputation for POWERCHINA to expand

its international business.
