Overview of power supply system: power grid, substation

The grid connection of Kazakhstan wind power projects invested by Chinese companies will ease the pressure on power supply in southern Kazakhstan

Electric energy has the advantages of easy conversion, economical transmission, and convenient control. Therefore, in today’s era, whether it is industrial and agricultural production or national defense construction or even in daily life, electricity has increasingly penetrated into all areas of people’s activities. Electricity for production is produced by power plants, and the electric energy needs to be boosted by a step-up substation to a high voltage of several hundred kilovolts (such as 110~200kv), transported by high-voltage transmission lines to the power-consuming area, and then distributed by the substation. to each user.

The power system is a whole of power generation, supply and use composed of power plants, substation transmission lines, distribution networks and users.

Power grid: The power grid is an intermediate link between power plants and users, and is a device that transmits and distributes electrical energy. The power network consists of transmission and distribution lines and substations with different voltage levels, and is often divided into two parts: transmission network and distribution network according to their functions. The transmission network is composed of transmission lines of 35kV and above and the substations connected to it. It is the main network of the power system. Its function is to transmit electric energy to the distribution network in various regions or directly to large enterprise users. The distribution network is composed of distribution lines and distribution transformers of 10kV and below, and its function is to deliver electric energy to various users.

Substation: A substation is a hub for receiving and distributing electric energy and changing voltage, and it is one of the important links between power plants and users. The substation is composed of power transformers, indoor and outdoor power distribution devices, relay protection, dynamic devices and monitoring systems. Transform all the points of step-up and step-down. The step-up substation is usually combined with a large power plant. A step-up transformer is installed in the electrical part of the power plant to increase the voltage of the power plant and send the electric energy to the distance through the high-voltage transmission network. The step-down substation It is located in the power consumption center, and the high voltage is appropriately reduced to supply power to users in the area. Due to the different scope of power supply, substations can be divided into primary (hub) substations and secondary substations. The substations of factories and enterprises can be divided into general step-down substations (central substations) and workshop substations.
The workshop substation receives power from the 6~10kV high-voltage distribution line in the plant area drawn from the main step-down substation, and reduces the voltage to low-voltage 380/220v to directly supply power to all electrical equipment.
